MICE: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions
The MICE industry is complex, as the the planning and execution of an event involve sponsors, planners, convention and visitor bureaus, meeting venues, accommodations, suppliers and participants from all over the world. MICE participants are in fact business travellers, which makes the MICE market a sector of the tourism industry. When these business travellers, for example, travel to a city to attend an exhibition or seminar, they will also need food, drinks, shopping, entertainment, transport, accommodation and more. The group market of the tourism and hospitality industry has therefore witnessed exponential growth owing to rapid globalization and expansion of the MICE industry. In 2017, Europe dominated the global MICE industry with more than 42% of global MICE industry share, in terms of value. However, Asia-Pacific is estimated to experience the highest growth rate from 2018 to 2025.
